This family of 5 had recently moved from Bahrain to London. Living in rented accommodation they were overseeing the final stages of a lengthy renovation on their new home in Barnes. Much of the design work had been done remotely and the family were overrun with decisions.
Lots of the family’s belongings had been in storage for months during the move back to the UK. Coordinating the logistics of the shipping container delivery, with their move into their new house was a challenge, and added to the stress of the move.
The family was ready to move on from the renovation and move into their new home.
They had a clear vision of what they wanted. Having worked so hard to create their dream home with an interior designer, they wanted to follow through to the very last detail. Calm, composed and beautiful organisation throughout.
On visiting the house during the renovation, we learnt about the family and how they saw themselves living in the home. Some of the key storage was still being installed, so we were able to input into the layout and design to ensure it allowed the rooms to function in the way they needed to.
The delays to the arrival of the shipping container required a flexible approach to this project, but our planning meant that we were prepared for the project as soon as the dates were confirmed.
Finally everything arrived and we started work on the kitchen. We unpacked the moving boxes and created an organised structure within the new cupboards and drawers so everything had a place. The family are keen bakers, so we created a baking drawer for all of their ingredients and, of course, a spectacular snack drawer for the kids. We used a mix of crisp, clean acrylic and natural textures, like acacia wood and water hyacinth to create a beautifully organised finish.
The playroom was a big, family space. Most of the children’s toys were going into their bedrooms, so the focus in the playroom was on creating space to hang out as a family, with board games, puzzles and crafts. We installed new storage units to house everything, choosing something that made the games really accessible, but neat and tidy.
The laundry room and utility were small spaces, which needed to work efficiently. We installed a basket shelving system to manage all of the laundry, and boxed and contained everything in the utility room, so there was a clear place for everything from tools to wrapping paper.
Just a couple of days after the boxes arrived, the family felt at home.
Before asking Laura and her team to come in I spoke to multiple organisers (if not all of them). I can confidently say Laura and her team are the best. I did the research for you so you can just stop here. Call them. Thank me later.”
