A Child-friendly Chiswick Kitchen

Our clients have a toddler and needed the kitchen to be safe, with dangerous objects out of the reach of curious hands. They also wanted a better system for monitoring ingredients as they never knew what was in the cupboards.

THE PROJECT BRIEF

To clear the kitchen surfaces and make a child-friendly space.

Our clients’ child loves playing with the bottom cupboards so changing the layout and storing only child-proof items in them was important. A few of the larger categories in the kitchen had become jumbled so our client wanted them organised to make things easier to find.

We moved all breakables in the top cupboards and tupperware, bottles and child’s crockery into the bottom ones. We categorised and contained the family’s medication and decanted pantry items into stackable jars to make better use of the space. The use of see-through containers meant our client could see exactly how much he had of each ingredient.

Our clients have a large range of spices so we decanted them into jars and used shelf raisers to create a beautiful display that made every spice easy to access, even at the back of the cupboard.
